Petr Cech Returns to Action for Chelsea

Petr Cech played his first game since retiring, last night as Chelsea’s development side beat Tottenham 3-2.

It was not the start that Cech would’ve been hoping for though, as The Blues found themselves 2-0 down within the first 20 minutes.

The 38 year old said stated on Instagram that he felt “strange” during the first period of the match from being out of action for so long.

After this rough patch early on, Cech said that his “‘match system’ reappeared” and that “it was great to have that special feeling again”.

Chelsea hit back after half time with goals in the 61st & 63rd minutes to make it 2-2.

Premier League winner Danny Drinkwater & Spurs’ Alfie Devine were both sent off minutes later, leading to a ruckus on the pitch, with Cech at the centre of it.

An 88th minute goal saw Chelsea rescue the 3 points and go top of the Premier League 2.

This was the Czech internationals first match in 565 days following his retirement from the game.

He played his last professional game for Arsenal in the 2019 Europe league final where The Gunners lost, coincidently to Chelsea.
