Charlie Cowie (16) Keeps Clean Sheet in QOS Debut

Charlie Cowie kept a clean sheet on his debut last night for Queen of the South at just 16 years of age.

The youngster was a last minute inclusion in the starting line-up, after their number 1 goalkeeper was injured in the warmup.

A fine performance from the 16 year old saw Allan Johnston’s side defeat an inform Raith Rovers who were unbeaten in their last 3 games.

Goals from Connor Shields in the 18th minute and Thomas Goss in added time were enough to seal victory for The Queens.

Cowie produced a few good saves in the match and secured what was only his sides 3rd clean sheet of the season.

Queen of The South were also off the back of 4 successive defeats which made the youngsters performance all the more impressive.

Charlie Cowie joined the club when he was just 11, after signing from Greystone Rovers in 2015.

Last nights result saw Queen of the South lift themselves off the bottom of the table into 8th place in the Scottish Championship.

As well as gaining a vital 3 points, QOS fans will have been delighted to see a young local lad having a positive impact in the first team.
