Goalkeeper Glove Technology 2022 – In previous years we’ve had the likes of Adidas’ Demonskin, Reusch’s SpeedBump & Uhlsport’s Supergrip. The list goes on…

With the technology constantly evolving, we decided to take a look at some of our favourite innovations in the world of goalkeeping gloves so far this year.

Uhlsport HYPERFLEX

Uhlsport introduced their new HYPERFLEX palm earlier this year with the intention of providing more flexibility in the hand.

This is done by the addition of a split in the middle of the palm. The inclusion of this guarantees improved levels of flexibility and also adds a more natural feel. By combining this with the half negative cut, it makes for a very comfortable, close fitting glove. But the Flex Cut technology does not stop there!

The latex above the cut comprises of Uhlsport’s famous Supergrip+, to offer high levels of grip where it is needed most. Below the cut is their Absolutgrip foam, which is used to provide more cushioning & durability in the ‘heel’ of the hand.

Reusch GluePrint

On the other hand, Reusch delivered a unique take on the super sticky palm with their ‘GluePrint’ range.

This new technology for 2022 features a strategically placed special sticky print on the palm. Due to the precise positioning of the ink, the print covers the areas of the palm that get into most contact with the ball when saving shots. Like with many high performance foams, Reusch state that the GluePrint will wear away.

But worry not, this is where the inclusion of the Attrakt Gold X latex kicks in, to continue offering high levels of grip.

One Glove Impact 1.0 Palm

Lastly, we have the brand new i1 palm which was engineered exclusively for ONE!

In most cases, when choosing goalkeeper gloves you must decide whether you want to prioritise grip or durability. The Men with the Golden Gloves

Puma have unveiled two golden gloves to celebrate Ederson & Jordan Pickford’s success over the last year.

Ederson enjoyed a fantastic 2020/21 campaign with the Cityzens, winning the title and also getting his hands on the Golden Glove award.

On the other hand, Pickford shone on the international stage, leading England to the EURO’s final whilst only conceding 2 goals.

With both goalkeepers boasting golden glove awards, it only seemed right for Puma to deliver something special, and they have!

The two will face off in the Premier League as Manchester City host Everton at the Etihad on Sunday.

It is expected that the golden gloves will be making an appearance, so keep your eyes peeled for them this weekend.

Samir Handanović Extends Contract with Reusch

Samir Handanović has renewed his contract with German glove company, Reusch until 2023.

Handanović has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the world, helping Inter Milan win their first Serie A title for over 10 years in the 2020/21 season.

EURO 2020 – Keepers of the Group Stage

The EURO 2020 group stages have officially come to a close, after an entertaining evening of football concluded the preliminary round.

With the knockout stages looming, we took a look at some of the best performing goalkeepers so far in the tournament.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

Appearances: 3

Clean Sheets: 3

Goals Conceded: 0

After not conceding a goal over the 3 matches, Donnarumma simply has to make the list. Whilst the Italian goalkeeper remained relatively untroubled over the course of the the group stages, he contributed to what was an excellent start to the competition for Mancini’s side.

Danny Ward

Appearances: 3

Clean Sheets: 1

Goals Conceded: 2

Wales managed to secure 2nd place in Group A despite the odds being against them. The Leicester number 2 has stood out as one of his teams best performers so far, making a number of good saves across the opening matches.

Jordan Pickford

Appearances: 3

Clean Sheets: 3

Goals Conceded: 0

Like Donnarumma, Pickford is the only other goalkeeper not to concede a goal in the EURO 2020 group stages. So for that reason alone, the Everton goalkeeper makes the list.

Robin Olsen

Appearances: 3

Goals Conceded: 2

Robin Olsen played a key role in Sweden’s unbeaten progression to the knockout stages of the competition. His highlight so far will likely be his excellent performance to shut out 3 time champions, Spain.

Thibaut Courtois

Appearances: 3

Goals Conceded: 1

Along with Italy & the Netherlands, Courtois’ side were the only other nation to achieve 9 points from 9. The Real Madrid shot stopper will be hoping to continue his fine form and get his hands on Belgium’s first European title.

England & Scotland face off for the first time in over 4 years tonight, as they meet in the second game of the EURO 2020 group stages.

Southgate’s Three Lions will be hoping to make it 6 points from 6, whereas Steve Clarkes side will be desperate for a win to keep their EURO dreams alive.

It is likely that Pickford will start for England, whilst Scotland are expected to opt for the experienced David Marshall between the posts.

Premier League Golden Glove Quiz

Manchester City goalkeeper, Ederson was handed the Premier League Golden Glove award for the second consecutive season last night.

He is the first goalkeeper to win the accolade back to back since 2013, when a certain Manchester City keeper achieved this feat.

The Brazilian has kept 18 clean sheets so far this season and was closely followed by Edouard Mendy (16) & Emiliano Martinez (15)

What is Reusch’s New Duo Technology?

The team over at Reusch continued what has already been an impressive start to the year with the introduction of the new duo technology last week.

This is their 4th glove launch of 2021 following up from the Attrakt range, Pure Contact and not forgetting the iconic Arrow model.

Before we get started on the specifics of the duo technology, you can check out the new glove and its main features below.

PALM : Reusch Grip Duo
CUT : Slim Expanse Cut
WRIST CLOSURE : Steady Cuff with Pull Loop, Neoprene Full Strap with Rubber ender
BACKHAND : Latex w/ Latex gussets

Duo Technology

The main feature of the new gloves is the three-dimensional latex dots which appear on the inside of the product on the palm.

As well as contributing greatly to flexibility, the strategically placed dots also aim to provide new levels of comfort.

The main purpose(s) of the dots are to:

Boost ball control
Increase impact absorption
Prevent slipping of the hand

Innovative Design

The Reusch Attrakt Duo also features a brand new Slim Expanse Cut. Negative stitching on the backhand is combined with an outer-seam construction on the palm side to give a truly unique cut. This is accompanied with the Duo Technology to boost its effects and provide maximum comfort.

Tested & Approved

Alex Meret (Napoli) & Alessio Cragno (Cagliari) are amongst the many International level goalkeepers that have tested and approved the model.

Meret said: “The 3D latex pattern on the inner side of the palm is a real boost of tactility and impact absorption. No slipping inside the glove, perfect control –the new DUO technology is just phenomenal.”
