Goalkeeper Jack Butland will continue a hectic summer by being named in Stuart Pearce’s Team GB squad for the Olympics today.
Butland, 19, is the only member of England’s Euro 2012 party being selected for the Games following an agreement between the Football Association and clubs.
Southampton last week saw a £6million bid rejected for Butland, who was called into Roy Hodgson’s senior squad after John Ruddy dropped out with a broken finger. Pearce’s squad will heavily feature players who have played under him for England Under-21s, along with the over-age trio of Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards.
Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele has also been selected in the Team GB squad.
